NORDEA RIGA MARATHON 2014

The course of Nordea Riga marathon is officially measured by AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races). The course is allowing visiting both sides of the river Daugava, the largest river in Latvia. Course of the marathon and half-marathon cross the river with the help of the Vanšu un Dienvidu Bridge thus allowing the participants to enjoy some of the most beautiful spots in Riga – "the silent centre", the amazing panorama of Pārdaugava and the Old Riga, as well as the paved streets of Old Town.

Start and Finish

The start and finish area for all the distances is located in the very center on 11.Novembra krastmala (between Kaļķu iela and Poļu gāte or between Vanšu bridge and Akmens bridge). Starting time for the marathon and half-marathon distances is on 8:30. 10K will start at 12:30, 5K - 13:30.

SURFACING

Course surfacing consists of 98% of asphalt and 2% of pavement for marathon distance.

REFRESHMENT STATIONS

There will be at least one refreshment station on each 5 km interval of the distance. It will be possible to get water, isotonic drink and snacks. See the details in the map on the placement of the refreshment stations.

TRAFFIC

Traffic on the course during the competition will be closed and strictly regulated. Traffic regulation will be provided by national and Riga City authorities.

TIME LIMIT

The course for the marathon distance and marathon relay closes 6 hours after the official start, for half-marathon – 3 hours, for 10K - 2 hours and for 5K – 1 h 30 min.
